DENVER (AP) - A Colorado judge has denied a Saudi national's request to reduce his sentence for sexually abusing a housekeeper so he can return to his native country.
Arapahoe County District Judge J. Mark Hannen on Thursday denied the request by Homaidan al-Turki to be released to serve probation in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Turki is serving eight years to life after his 2006 conviction on unlawful sexual contact by use of force, false imprisonment and other charges.
Authorities say al-Turki kept the housekeeper as a virtual slave.
A psychologist testified that al-Turki would be able to receive treatment there in a manner consistent with his values and beliefs.
Hannen says in his order that he does not have the authority under state law to make such a sentencing modification.
