Judge delays setting Jodi Arias sentencing retrial

PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona judge overseeing the trial of Jodi Arias has put off setting a date for the convicted killer's sentencing phase retrial.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens on Monday said prosecutors need time to respond to defense requests for jurors' Twitter user names and to restrict live television coverage of the proceedings. Stephens set a Sept. 16 hearing to consider those requests.

Arias was convicted of first-degree murder on May 8 in the 2008 death of boyfriend Travis Alexander in his suburban Phoenix home. The same jury failed to reach a decision on whether she should get the death penalty and prosecutors want a new jury to consider the same question.

Arias claimed the killing was self-defense. Prosecutors argued it was premeditated murder.
