NEW YORK - Johnny Football has made college football history. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, 20, is the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy. He beat out Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o and Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein to claim the coveted award.
Manziel scored 43 touchdowns and piled up 4,600 yards of total offensive this season, breaking Cam Newton's single season record. However, the clincher among Heisman voters seems to have been Manziel's stellar performance in an upset win over top ranked Alabama.
Texas A&M (10-2) will play Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl January 4th.
