The Colorado Division of Water Resources has an opening for a Dam Safety Engineer. The position is based in Colorado Springs.

Duties include: Prevent the loss of life and property damage from the failure of dams by setting safe storage levels in reservoirs by inspection and engineering evaluation; to provide customer assistance in the area of dam safety and water resources. Provides advanced, independent multi-discipline engineering review of plans and specifications prepared by registered professional consulting engineers for the construction of new dams or major repairs and modifications to existing dams, to recommend approval to the State Engineer as defined in C.R.S. 37-87-105. The position is responsible for the periodic inspection of dam construction projects to assure compliance with approved plans and specifications, to evaluate changed conditions which could affect the safety of the dam and to issue orders to allow water storage after the successful completion of the projects. Maintain necessary records, documentation, and database updates as they relate to the performance of dam safety and construction inspections, and design review activities. Assist the public in the office concerning well permitting, water rights and dam safety.

Pay: $6400 - $9200 per month.
