Jimmy Carter to work on Denver Habitat project

DENVER (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter is planning a trip to Colorado next year to help Habitat for Humanity build and repair homes in a neighborhood north of downtown Denver.
KUSA-TV reports (http://on9news.tv/TwMRMK) Carter made the announcement while on a Habitat project in Leogane, Haiti, working alongside a group of volunteers from Colorado to build 100 homes in one week. It's been nearly three years since an earthquake crippled the country.
The former president will work in Denver's Globeville neighborhood in October.
Habitat for Humanity, which helps build affordable housing, has more than 1,500 affiliates in the United States and is in more than 80 countries. Homeowners put sweat equity into their house and pay the cost to build it at 0 percent interest.
