Colorado Springs Officers from the Stetson Hills Division were called to McNulty's Jewelry Store located at 7603 N. Union Boulevard to initially investigate a report of an argument between two people.
When police arrived they discovered that an attempted robbery had taken place. An unidentified caucasian male wearing a mask approached the owner of the store after closing and while heading to his vehicle to go home late Thursday night.
The suspect had his hand in his jacket pocket, alleging he had a weapon, and led the victim to believe his family was in danger if he didn't comply with his demands. However, the owner was actually armed, pulled out his weapon, and told the suspect to back off.
After a short exchange of words, the suspect fled on foot while being pursued by the victim. It was at this time the suspect began throwing river rocks from the landscaping of the area and eventually made it to his truck in order to flee the area. As the suspect drove off he almost hit the victim, so the victim fired his weapon, believing that he hit the suspect's vehicle possibly two times.
The victim did sustain some minor injuries to his hand from being hit by a rock. It is unknown whether any injury was sustained by the suspect. Suspect is described as approximately 5ft 10 inches, heavy set, wearing a puffy, orange down jacket, black hoodie and black face mask. The suspect vehicle is described as a late model, white, Ford F-150.
Police continue to investigate and search for the suspect vehicle.
