Jay Leno Show aired for the last time Tuesday night

In a monologue that seemed supercharged, Jay Leno came out with jokes blazing in his last appearance on The Jay Leno Show. After a skit that included fake memories from the show's five months on the air...there were unexpected moments including an appearance by Donald Trump; and an in-studio football game in a blizzard involving Ashton Kutcher and surprise guest Kurt Warner.

Other than that, Leno's prime-time swan song was business as usual. He did a sit-down interview with Oscar-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe, and the ten-at-ten segment with NBC Sports anchor Bob Costas.

The question now is can Leno again be number one on the Tonight Show. TV Guide's Stephen Battaglio said, "One thing Jay has going for him is that he doesn't have The Jay Leno Show on at ten o-clock leading into the late news and his program.

His once and future program, The Tonight Show, relaunches March first. Leno will face stiff challenges from disgruntled audience members, stinging shots from old foe David Letterman, and possible competition from departed host Conan O'Brien next fall.

Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross said, "All these Conan fans came when they felt that Conan was getting the short end of the stick, and as a result they sort of turned their ire on Leno.

Now it'll be up to Leno to turn that ire into ratings.
