The Colorado Rockies say Jason Giambi is on a rehabilitation assignment with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox that is scheduled to last through Wednesday.
The 40-year-old has been on the disabled list since July 27 with a strained left quadriceps. The Sky Sox game Monday night against the Memphis Redbirds was scheduled to be Giambi's first appearance in a game since then.
Before he was hurt, Giambi was hitting .260 (25-for-96) with 10 home runs, 24 RBIs and 16 runs scored in 48 games with the Rockies.
