It's official. DeRuyter leaves AFA for A&M

It's finally official. Tim DeRuyter is the new defensive coordinator at Texas A&M.
DeRuyter leaves the same job at Air Force to take over at A&M.

The A&M Board of Regents approved the hiring Thursday. Aggies head coach Mike Sherman made the official announcement a short time later.

Sherman said, "Tim is the right fit." Sherman indicated that DeRuyter would not have left Air Force unless he was going to a "special place." "He has a great appreciation for the history, traditions and the values of Texas A&M," added Sherman.

DeRuyter has been the Falcons defensive coordinator the last three years. He replaces the retiring Joe Kines at Texas A&M.
