Winter is over, well the "meteorological winter" that is. It is a three month period that runs from Dec 1st to the end of February. It is the coldest three month period of the year in the northern hemisphere. This was proven to be true this winter in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Actually, we were colder than usual! The average temperature over the last 3 months was 0.6 degrees cooler than the norm in Colorado Springs and 1 degree cooler in Pueblo.

If you're not ready for winter to be over, officially you have a couple more weeks. The "astronomical winter" is what we all refer to when we talk about the winter season and this is based on when the sun reaches the most southern point on the globe, the Tropic of Capricorn. This takes place on March 20, 5:02 A.M. MDT.
