EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - The U.S. government is funding a program that will bring about 50 Iraqi students to the University of Southern Indiana and Colorado State university for six weeks.

The Iraqi Young Leader Exchange Program is funded by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and run by the nonprofit group World Learning. Students begin the program in Washington with orientation covering diversity, public speaking and cross-cultural communication. The group divides Saturday, with 25 going to Southern Indiana in Evansville and the others to Colorado State in Fort Collins.

The Southern Indiana program focuses on social services and community health, while the Colorado State program focuses on civic engagement and social advocacy.
