The NBC affiliate in Waterloo, Iowa reports a plane found crashed in Southern Colorado belongs to a Waterloo urologist.
The small Piper Malibou went down Sunday afternoon in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The wreckage was found Monday afternoon by Civil Air Patrol aircraft and Blackhawks. The plane was flying from Arizona to Pueblo in bad weather when it went down.
Dr. Michael Welton and his girlfriend may be the people who were on board, although that has not yet been confirmed. Family members were on the way to Pueblo Monday evening.
Capt. Scott Orr with the Civil Air Patrol says the plane was found about a mile east of Blueberry Peak.
KWWL also reports Welton made an emergency landing in the same plane back in March of 2009.
