Internet crimes unit seaches home of Nuggets Birdman

LARKSPUR - Investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office searched the home of Denver Nuggets player Chris "Birdman" Andersen Thursday and seized some of his is property.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Deborah Sherman said deputies with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit have been looking into Andersen since receiving a lead from a California law enforcement agency in February.

Sherman said Andersen was at home during the search and cooperated with deputies.

"Our investigators took this lead in February and they followed it up diligently and thoroughly just like they would any other case like this," she said.

A statement from the Denver Nuggets stated that Andersen has been excused from all team activities indefinitely.

The 6 ' 10" Andersen was a power forward/ center for the Nuggets. He first joined the team in 2001 played for three seasons. Andersen then played for the New Orleans Hornets from 2004 - 2006 and for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008. He returned to the Nuggets during the 2008 season.
