Halloween may have just ended, but the holiday giving season has already begun. Thursday at midnight, the 2012 Indy GiVE! campaign website went online. The project is coordinated by the Pikes Peak Community Foundation and the Colorado Springs Independent. Donors tripled their contributions in the previous three campaigns from $198,234 in 2009 to $699,823 in 2011.

GiVE! campaign board member Mary Lou Makepeace explains the purpose is to not only raise money for smaller non-profits in our community, but to also help them grow by teaching directors how to market and network the organizations.

"We want these organizations that are a part of Give to be stronger at the end of December than they were when they started out, when they filled out their application to be part of Give."

The first community fundraiser of the season will be held Thursday night. A Masquerade Wine Tasting will begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, 30 W. Dale Street.

For $50, guests can sample from over 1,000 varieties of wine produced by a dozen different wineries and meet the members of the 58 non-profit agencies participating in this years campaign.
