With the end of warm weather comes the end of local farmer's markets, with one exception.
A new market in El Paso County has moved indoors, making it easy to find local goods year round. Everything from food to arts and crafts is available at the Consolidated Marketplace, in the Security area.
Owner Elisa Duesling turned a former church into the indoor market six months ago, vendors and customers can shop no matter what it's like outside. Elaine Okuda, was one of the first vendors to sign up, "I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for a small business person, that's what we all are," she says.
In the last six months the market has grown and is now home to dozens of permanent vendors. It could be described as a mini mall. While the market is about making local goods available year round, it's also about helping the local economy, "We are here just promoting the small business people," explains owner Elisa Duesling
Consolidated Marketplace is open Thursday through Sunday. Thursday it's open from 9-5, Friday and Saturday from 8-6 and Sunday from 11-4. It is located at 4360 Bradley Rd. in the Security area.
The market still needs vendors. To sign up, call Elisa Duesling at 719-205-0846 or email at email@example.com.
