The Federal Trade Commission has issued tips for people who may want to donate money to victims and families of the aurora, colorado movie theater shooting.
Two legitimate charities have been established, the Aurora Victim Relief Fund and the Community First Foundation, to meet needs of victims and their families. The F.T.C says there are fraudulent organizations and bonus "charities" springing up.
The F.T.C advises consumers to be wary of charities that spring up quickly in connection with current events like the aurora shooting.
It also warns that urgent appeals by phone, mail, email or over social networking sites may not be legitimate.
the F.T.C. has a website helping keep track of charity fraud, just click here.
