Volunteers with Pikes Peak BMX are making a lot of improvements, to the motocross track at Rampart Park in Colorado Springs.

The track has been around for about 15 years and it needed some work, so volunteers with the non-profit are putting in a lot of hours to get the track ready for their upcoming race season, which opens April 2nd.

Some of what they've done so far includes new posts to keep riders on the track, and they've made the track surface smoother. Local companies are also helping; the new announcers tower was donated by Rocky Mountain Custom Decks, Pioneer Sand and Stone donated railroad ties and Colorado Machinery and Bobcat of the Rockies donated the machines they've been using to work on the track.

Pikes Peak BMX says they're still looking for donations and volunteers to finish the project. They have two more big volunteer days coming up in March on the 19th and 26th.
