The impact of Typhoon Haiyan across the Philippines stretches to Colorado.
A Denver area woman, Rachel Sangchompuphen, has family who lives in one of the hardest hit areas. The town is called Guiuan. Sangchompuphen has been unable to reach them since late last week.
Since then, Sangchompuphen's phone calls go right to voicemail. She says there's not much left to do but wait, and try to carry on like normal.
"I'm in a trance. I'm trying to function for my kids, and husband," she said. "But at the same time I'm a daughter, I'm a sister, an aunt. It's hard to put it behind."
She says on some of the islands where the storm hit, there's nowhere to hide. Because of that, she says it's hard not to fear the worst in these cases.
