Illegal trash burn to blame for Elbert County fire

Fire investigators have confirmed that an illegal trash burn is to blame for a fire that burned over 1,900 acres off County Rd. 86, east of Matheson in Elbert County. That area is currently under fire restrictions.

It started around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. No structures were damaged and no one was injured. Firefighters from several agencies helped get that fire under control including El Paso County.
