It may be warm, but that is not stopping plans for a week of ice skating in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. There is an ice skating rink going in at Acacia Park, only it is not the frozen kind of ice. Instead over 64 sheets of synthetic ice are put together like a big puzzle.
"You know we're getting started this year getting the spirit going and then we just hope it gets bigger and better every year, but this is the year we're kind of trying to start some new traditions," said Downtown Partnership Acting Director, Hannah Parsons. The rink is part of plans by the Downtown Partnership to kick of the holiday season with a winter type festival.
The rink will be open for the first week of December. It is free, but folks from The Empty Stocking Fund who are staffing it, hope you will also make a donation to their cause.
