Interstate 70 over Vail Pass is open again after an accident involving dozens of vehicles kept the highway closed.
The Colorado State Patrol says a semitrailer going westbound on Thursday afternoon jackknifed and hit the median, causing a chain reaction of crashes in snowy weather. Troopers say one person was seriously injured and five to six others had moderate or minor injuries.
Several dozen people spent the night at a shelter that the Salvation Army set up at the Vail Municipal Building.
Vail Pass is icy and snowy this morning, but open to traffic.
