Hwy. 50 widening under way in west Pueblo

Widening of westbound U.S. Hwy. 50 is under way between Baltimore Avenue and Wills Boulevard on Pueblo's west side. The project began in February and the Colorado Department of Transportation says completion is expected by October. The widening will add a third lane to westbound Hwy. 50, as well as new turn lanes and safety enhancements. It's part of a multi-phase overhaul of Hwy. 50 which began with the interchange with I-25 and addition of a third eastbound lane. Ultimately, years down the line, the last phase will be completed when Hwy. 50 is "three-laned" all the way from I-25 to Purcell Boulevard in Pueblo West.
