Hwy. 24 closure today for rock removal

After rock slides partially closed US Highway 24 twice in successive weeks, damaging some vehicles but causing no injuries, the Colorado Department of Transportation is taking the unusual step of closing the highway to remove rocks.
The closure is today, beginning at 9:30 am. They hope to reopen the road just 30 minutes later.
Both rock slides happened near Cave of the Winds.
The closure is in the Manitou Springs area. Traffic will be routed through town.
