Hundreds spent Thanksgiving morning burning off calories. The YMCA held its first ever Turkey Trot in Pueblo.
More than 300 people took part in the 5-mile run or walk. From 3-year olds to seniors, people of all ages took part in the event.
The YMCA of Pueblo says its goal was to promote healthy living, especially on a day when many people spend more time eating, than exercising. "Thanksgiving is usually known through the three F's: family, football and fun," said Janelle Markert, senior director of marketing for the YMCA of Pueblo. "Fitness is never really involved in that so on a day when people are usually busy eating and not being active I wanted to give them the opportunity to be active," she added.
Proceeds from the event benefit the YMCA's strong kids campaign.
First place winners received turkeys. Second place finishers got pumpkin pies.
