Investigators with the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office are sifting through a scene Sunday after a hunter came across human remains Saturday afternoon.
According to investigators, retired Wildlife Officer Ron Zagar was dove hunting on property near the 9500 block of Hwy 96 West when he found the shallow grave where a coyote or other small animal had been digging. Zagar believed he had found human remains and called the Sheriff's Office. Coroner James Kramer has said that the remains are human. He also believes the remains did not get there naturally.
At this time, the identity of the human remains is unknown. The cause and manner of death has not been determined. The Sheriff's Office says more information will be released as the investigation continues.
