Hugo couple may have been dead for days

HUGO, Colo. (AP) - Authorities believe an elderly couple found  dead in eastern Colorado this week had been shot days before their bodies were discovered.
The Lincoln County coroner confirmed Friday that Charles and Laura Clagett were shot in the head, most likely on Sunday night.

Coroner Jennifer Nestor said they were in bed in their pajamas when they were killed.  Their bodies weren't discovered in their home in Hugo until Wednesday. That's when deputies went there to notify them that their great-grandson had been involved in a car wreck. The 16-year-old is now the main person of interest in the investigation. The boy has been living with the Claggets, who were both in their 80s.

A spokesman for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation declined to comment on the coroner's findings.
