WASHINGTON (AP) - The House is expected to take up a proposal Saturday to provide post-shutdown pay for an estimated 800,000 furloughed federal employees off the job since midday Tuesday.
Lawmakers will then take two days off. Democrats and the White House have so far opposed piece-meal proposals to reopen various programs. But there's been no veto threat against the back pay proposal.
