Crank up the A/C and turn the fans to high! It's going to be a HOT one today. For many areas, highs will be near 10 degrees above average. And considering we're now in the hottest time of the year, that means real heat!
Highs today will climb into the mid 90s for Springs and near 100 for Pueblo and Canon City. This is because we're seeing a lot more sunshine this afternoon. And that sun is just going to bake us! The UV index is at 12 today - that's out of 12! So be sure to lather on the sunscreen. We do have a very small chance of a stray shower, but I wouldn't be too worried about this as most areas stay dry.
Tuesday's weather is going to repeat itself again on Wednesday. So that means more sunshine and more heat. Highs will return to mid 90s for Springs and low 100s for Pueblo and Canon City. Plus, we'll be seeing mostly sunny skies.
Things change slightly as we approach the weekend. The shower chances will go up slightly, with a bit more cloud cover around. This will allow temperatures to slowly start to back off. We'll see the biggest cool down Sunday into Monday where a storm system will move through. This will drop our highs back down to average highs.
Stay cool... Meteorologist Valerie Abati
