A local church is hoping to feed the 5,000 with a food drive at their semi-annual block party. Members of the Wilson United Methodist Church on Flying W Ranch Road started collecting food donations Saturday morning in hopes of donating over 5,000 pounds to local pantries.

The food drive is a new addition to their semi-annual block party. Twice a year Wilson UMC invites their neighbors to come by for free hotdogs, live music and games for the kids like potato sack races.

"The church is kind of centered in this neighborhood, kind of tucked away back here and it's just our effort to get connected with folks and to say thanks and to give everybody a base for just being together," explains Rev. Randy Jessen

Along with the free food and games, the church also set up a tent for free bicycle repairs.
