FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado State University says it will confer an honorary doctoral degree on MillerCoors Chairman Peter H. Coors as part of fall commencement ceremonies Saturday.

He will receive his degree at the College of Business commencement ceremony.

CSU President Tony Frank says Coors has been a strong supporter of Colorado higher education.

Coors is vice chairman of Molson Coors Brewing Co. and chairman of MillerCoors. The Colorado native has a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Cornell University, a master's in business administration from the University of Denver, and honorary doctorates from Regis University, Wilberforce University and Johnson & Wales University.

He ran as a Republican for the U.S. Senate in 2004 but lost to Democrat Ken Salazar.
