Homeless people and activists in Boulder are planning to protest the city's ban on sleeping in public parks.
A Tuesday rally is planned to decry the 353 tickets issued last year to people sleeping on public property. Activists say the $100 tickets usually end in jail time for homeless people because they can't afford the fines.
The organizer of the rally is Terry Sternberg, a homeless woman. She says the city should put a moratorium on sleeping and public camping tickets because of limited space in shelters and the poor economy.
The rally is Tuesday evening outside the Boulder Municipal Building.
