Home invasion turned shooting hospitalizes 1

A man is in critical condition after he took a bullet to the face during a home invasion turned shooting Saturday night at the Mountain Country Estates on S. Academy Blvd.

Police tell News 5 a call came in around 9:15 PM for a home invasion, which turned to a shooting within two minutes. When officials arrived at the scene one man was found shot in the head, lying in the hallway outside the residence. A man, woman, and two children live inside; the two adults have been detained for questioning.

When News 5 asked if this was a 'Make My Day' situation, Larry Herbert of CSPD said, "We have to consult with the District Attorneys office about that. There is that possibility, of course, but we need to determine what the facts are in the case."

Police say nobody has been arrested or charged and there were no obvious signs of forced entry upon first inspection.
