DENVER (AP) - Lawyers for Colorado theater shooting suspect James Holmes are accusing prosecutors of interfering with the defense investigation of the case.
In motions filed Monday, defense lawyers also accused prosecutors of waiting nearly a year before turning over huge volumes of reports from the FBI.
Defense lawyers say the delay will make it impossible for them to be ready for trial by Feb. 3, the starting date set by the judge.
Holmes is accused of killing 12 people and injuring 70 at a suburban Denver theater in July 2012. He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to multiple counts of murder and attempted murder.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
They declined comment on the defense claims, citing a gag order.
