Holder: Airlines must make concessions to merge

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Justice Department, American Airlines and US Airways could reach a deal to avoid a trial later this month on the government's lawsuit blocking a merger.

Attorney General Eric Holder says the two carriers will have to make broad concessions if they want to settle the suit. The challenge contends that the merger would restrict competition and drive up prices for consumers.
