A road construction project in El Paso County will temporarily close a section of Hodgen Road beginning Monday.
The 1.6 mile stretch of Hodgen between Farrar Road and Black Forest Road will be closed for approximately 5 months for construction.
Crews are adding shoulders and installing turn lanes as needed. The plan also calls for steep hills to be smoothed over to help reduce drifting snow in the winter.
Black Forest residents who live in the affected area will be allowed to use a contractor maintained access road at posted detour points to access their homes.
The second phase of work from Farrar Drive to Colorado Highway 83 will follow. The entire projected is scheduled for completion in December.
The $12 million project was paid for with funds the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority which collects a voter approved $0.01 sales tax.
