OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - It's a crime with a certain ring to it. San Francisco police report finding a 2-ton copper bell that had been stolen from St. Mary's Cathedral. Police say a tip led them to the historic bell, which had been left across the street from an Oakland scrap yard. It was covered by a tarp. Investigators figure the crooks wanted to sell the bell. But police are not sure how the thieves could have hauled the massive thing away. The bell was cast in 1889 and survived the 1906 earthquake.
