The Old Historic North Side Neighborhood Organization has applied to the City's Historic Preservation Commission to expand on Pueblo's north side.
The group would like to add more than 80 properties between 19th and 20th and from West St. to Main St.
The current historic district covers 21 homes near Mineral Palace Park. The area under consideration is located between 19th Street and 20th Street, from West Street to Main Street. City Staff and City Councilwoman Ami Nawrocki will be going door to door Sunday, to answer questions and provide public notice posters that are required by Pueblo Municipal Code.
The purpose of a historic district is to afford owners the opportunity to apply for Colorado State Tax Credits for rehabilitation and repair work; help preserve the character of the neighborhood, and stabilize or increase property values. Citizens will be allowed to opt-out of the district through a letter which will be mailed after the final hearing by City Council in approximately two months.
