The Colorado Department of Transportation says beware of traffic changes when your on highway 24, this weekend. CDOT will be shifting traffic on US 24 from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes on Saturday evening.
The lane shift will be one mile west of Manitou Springs. The construction is part of an ongoing project to improve water flow under the highway.
The shift is expected to begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday and be complete by 1 a.m. Sunday, with one lane of traffic in each direction.
Extra delays can be expected from Saturday evening through about noon on Sunday.
The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph and vehicles wider than 12 feet will not be allowed to travel through the work zone.
All four lanes of U.S. 24 are expected to be open to traffic by Thursday, May 22.
