High winds are causing some trouble around Southern Colorado. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning until noon Saturday and could be damaging along the I-25 corridor. Drivers should be careful on the roads today as gusts could make driving difficult.
CDOT said its crews have been out overnight and will continue to work throughout the day Saturday clearing debris off of the roadways. Several trees and branches have been knocked down in the Colorado Springs area, especially in the area near North Nevada and Uintah.
Penrose Hospital also suffered some minor damage, after a patient thought it heard a crash on the roof Friday night. Hospital spokesperson Chris Valentine said this was not a crash, but a large piece of the ventilation system was blown off of the roof by the high winds. It hit a lower level roof and it probably sounded like a crash to patients.
Valentine said this has not disrupted service at the hospital, and the facilities department and contractors are already working to repair the damage to the building caused by the wind.
News Five is tracking the winds and any damage today. If you know of damage or have pictures of wind damage, please email them to email@example.com. Include a location and description of the damage as well.
