A high speed police chase ending in a shoot-out near Dallas this morning may be related to the killing of the Colorado Department of Corrections Director Tom Clements this past Tuesday.
Local media affiliates report a suspect, whose identity has not been released, shot a Montague County deputy three times in Bowie, TX during a traffic stop. The suspect then fled the scene into Wise County, leading Wise County sheriff's deputies and Decatur police in pursuit. The suspect reportedly stuck his head out of his car window and continued firing on police cars during the chase. The suspect car collided with a big rig at the intersection of U.S. 380 and Business 380, at which time the suspect exited the vehicle and continued the exchange of gunfire. Sheriffs deputies fired at the suspect, shooting him in the head. He was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with unknown injuries.
We are currently awaiting confirmation that the suspect was involved in the killing of the DOC Director Tom Clements; the chase suspect vehicle's description matches that of the suspect in the killing of Clements, and has Colorado license plates.
