DENVER (AP) - Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Hickenlooper is promising to run a "clean" campaign.

The Denver mayor's campaign is rolling out his first television ad featuring Hickenlooper in the shower. The campaign says it has reserved $1.2 million in television
time through election day. Hickenlooper says in the spot that he can't stand negative advertising. "Every time I see one, I feel like I need to take a shower," he says as he climbs fully clothed in the shower and turns on the water.

During his mayoral campaign, Hickenlooper's ads featured him riding around on a scooter chopping down parking meters. He parachuted out of a plane to symbolize Colorado's budget crisis.

Hickenlooper faces Republican Dan Maes and American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo in November.
