A teacher who tackled a suspected shooter outside a Colorado school is being honored by a group of school resource and drug use prevention officers.

David Benke is credited with knocking down Bruco Stong Eagle Eastwood outside Deer Creek Middle School after two students were shot and wounded Feb. 23.

Also being honored are staff members Norm Hanne and Rebecca Brown, who helped subdue Eastwood. Benke, Hanne and Brown will receive their honor from the Colorado Association of School Resource Officers and The Colorado Association of DARE Officers during an awards banquet in Denver Thursday.

Eastwood faces several charges, including attempted murder and is being held on $1 million cash bail.
