Hazardous waste disposal day planned

Pueblo's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day for hard-to-recycle items is scheduled for Saturday, May 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Colorado State Fair Grounds. Participants should enter through Gate 3 on Mesa Avenue. This event is only open to residents of the City and County of Pueblo. No items from businesses, schools or large facilities will be accepted.

For a $5 entrance fee, households may drop off chemicals, poisons, old, non-controlled medication, mercury-containing devices such as fluorescent bulbs, thermometers and thermostats, paints and stains, vehicle and household batteries, and appliances. Appliances containing Freon such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners can be dropped off for an additional $5 fee. Passenger tires may also be dropped off for an additional $1 per tire.

No electronic waste, bio-hazardous waste, yard debris, and household trash will be accepted.

Free paint give-a-way Sunday, May 23 from 9:00am - noon at Gate 3 off Mesa Avenue.
