Replanting of the Hayman Burn Area will resume next week, with 140,000 ponderosa pine and Douglas fir seedlings to be planted over a 1,000 acre site.
The Arbor Day Foundation and National Forest Foundation are funding the effort.
The 2002 Hayman Fire was the largest fire in Colorado's recorded history, burning more than 138,000 acres. Damages totaled $40 million, with 133 homes lost, more than 5,000 people evacuated and six deaths indirectly blamed on the fire. One person died of an asthma attack blamed on smoke from the fire, while five firefighters en route from Oregon to battle the flames, died in a traffic accident.
