DENVER (AP) - The campaign of Colorado Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes is facing more problems.
Former U.S. Sen. Hank Brown withdrew his support for Maes Wednesday after reading about inconsistencies in Maes' police background in Kansas. Meanwhile, The Denver Post reports that former congressman Bob Beauprez says Maes should bow out. His grassroots supporters also say they have concerns about how Maes is running his campaign Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck says he still supports Maes.
Brown's announcement followed reports on Maes' claims that he worked undercover while a police officer in the 1980s and was fired because of corruption. The Post reported that Maes said "those comments might have been incorrect comments" but he didn't elaborate.
