The stalled ski-type chairlift ride at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo started Wednesday with a system code error. Operators decided to stop the ride to investigate. When the investigation took longer than expected the operators decided to evacuate the riders.

The Fire Department retrieved 19 passengers from the Sky Ride, using a ladder truck as well as ropes and pulleys.

There were no injuries.

The ride was closed Thursday while the zoo awaits repair parts. The manufacturer believes the problem is internal wiring running from a gate to a computer, which gave the warning light. A replacement should be installed by Friday, and after safety checks, the zoo plans to re-open the Sky Ride.
