More cases of the H1N1 virus or swine flu are surfacing in Canon City.
The cases seem to be leveling off in the middle school, less than two dozen were out sick on September 14, down from 100 students two weeks ago.
However, now the virus is spreading elsewhere. Fifteen cases have been reported throughout town and at the high school, as many as 45 students may have the virus.
"We also expect through the winter this year, not only in Canon City, but in other school districts we're going to see ripples like this when an illness goes through. So we'll just continue to follow our practices and monitor the situation," said Robin Gooldy, Superintendent for Canon City Schools.
Health leaders say to stay healthy, wash your hand frequently, stay home if you're sick and get your seasonal flu shot as soon as possible.
