Gunman fires on police during stand-off in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Police say they're have arrested a gunman after he fired on officers and holed up in a Lakewood home for more than five hours with a woman and three young children.

The Lakewood police dispatch office says the man opened fire shortly after police arrived around 10 p.m. Friday, responding to a domestic disturbance report.

The suspect then holed up in the residence near West 13th Place and Kline Street. Officers and a SWAT took positions around the house. The woman who is believed to be the man's wife managed to flee early during the standoff.

The dispatch office didn't have details on how the standoff ended but says police somehow managed to hit with the suspect with a stun gun and arrested him at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

The children were found by police unharmed. No police were hurt. The gunman is being treated for an injury but it's not clear if it was from the stun gun or a firearm.
