DENVER (AP) - A gun owners group has scheduled a counter-rally for the same time and place as an event to remember those killed or injured in the attack on an Aurora movie theater last year.
Mayors Against Illegal Guns plans to hold its remembrance at noon Friday at the Smoky Hill Shelter in Cherry Creek State Park. The event is meant to be an opportunity for people to remember the 12 people killed and 70 people injured in the theater attack on July 20, 2012.
The Denver Post reports the Windsor-based Rocky Mountain Gun Owners has planned a counter-rally at noon Friday in the same spot. The gun owners group says its rally will be peaceful.
