A growing wildfire in Huerfano County has forced some people to evacuate their homes. According to the County the fire is 15 acres and growing in the Blackhawk subdivision located 10 miles west of I-25 on the Northwest side of Four Mile Canyon Road. People who live in a 4-mile radius of Four Mile Canyon Road and Cougar Trail are being asked to evacuate, they can find shelter at the Huerfano Community Center.
15 engines are on site as well as 2 water tenders and an air tanker that has made one drop. Additional resources are on the way.
The County is asking everyone to limit travel in and around the area right now for their own safety and that of the fire crews.
